Where is the Isle Of Wight ?
The Isle of Wight is an exotic Island on the South Coast of England, just below Portsmouth and Southampton.
How To Get to the Island….
There are many ways to get to the Island, and it mainly depends how adventurous your unit can be. The facts, it is only approx 4 miles away from Mainland UK, and therefore is reachable by raft or by erecting a Monkey Bridge.
Or the most entertained transport is by one of our lovely ferries that bring you over in style and comfort, (hint…the car ferries have a bar on them for the weary Leaders that need refreshments).

Once On The Island, Where is the Camp Site ?
The camp site is at Lake Middle School. Lake is a small town on the South East Coast of the Island sandwiched between Sandown and Shanklin. It has a cinema and a good burger/Chinese/chip shops for those lazy Venture Scouts.
Lake Train station is a 5-10 minute walk away from the camp site, but if you do choose to come by train let us know in advance and we may be able to arrange to pick you up from the station.
From Lakes Cliff you have a superb view of Sandown Bay and Culver Cliff, and there is a promenade so that you can walk to both Shanklin and Sandown in 20 minutes.
More about the camp site.
During the weekend the school facilities will be used to host the evening entertainment and some of the day time activities. The school does have showers that can be used, but don't forget that this is a middle school and so are not designed for 6' Ventures.
Shopping, three minutes walk away is Safeway's where all of the food that you require can be purchased. The Management insist that if you wish to buy alcohol from any shop on the Island especially Safeway's, please have ID with you, preferably photo ID as it makes our lives a lot easier, and it does not give a false impression of Venture Scouting.
During the weekend we have 24 hour access to the toilet facilities.
What are you expected to bring with you ?
Being venture scouts we are going to leave this up to you, but please take note of the issues listed below;
You will be getting wet
Every night there is a theme, and people will be dressed up, it is only for a laugh.
Rules Of The Camp 'One Out All Out'
The Management does not like having rules of the camp, but they do impose strict guidelines that are in place to ensure that the camp runs smoothly and that everyone enjoys the camp as expected.
There is nothing worse than other people having an influence on whether you enjoy the camp or not, we (The Management) make it our policy to iron out any problems during the camp (if any arise) instead of letting them build up.
We have never had any serious issues to deal with over the last 5 years so we don't expect any to arise in the future.
The Guidelines of the camp are as follows;
Add a project.
